EMPLOYEE SENTENCED FOR STEALING COMPANY GIFT CHECKS

The U.S. Department of Justice's Federal Bureau of Investigation Louisville Field necklaces issued the following press release:

The United States Attorney's Office and the FBI jointly announced today that Louis D. Green, 39, of Erlanger, Ky. was sentenced yesterday to 30 months in prison and ordered to pay a restitution fee of over $500,000 for stealing gift checks from a Cincinnati company and transporting them to Kentucky for deposit.

In September of 2009, Green pleaded guilty to the charges and admitted that while he worked for Convergys Inc. he fraudulently ordered gift checks that were intended to reward other Convergys employees. Rather than give them to employees, he money clips them and then cashed the checks himself.

Green's theft occurred hundreds of times over a three year period resulting in a loss to Convergys of over $500,000.

Under federal law, Green must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence, and, upon release, will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for three years.

James A. Zerhusen, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Timothy D. Cox, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI jointly made the announcement today after the sentencing.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI. The United States was tiffany engagement rings by the Fort Mitchell Branch Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
